About Dessert Makeovers
I am a Detroit native and self-taught baker with over 20+ years’ experience and owner of Dessert Makeovers. I have a huge family, 35+ nieces and nephews, 6 siblings and 3 children of my own. So, birthdays were every other week and when you celebrate so many birthdays in a year, you (me) kind of want something different.
I literally could not eat another store-bought birthday cake. That’s when my passion for baking blossomed. I wanted something different. Therefore, I started baking and decorating cakes for my children, family and then others. Baking relaxes me! Go Figure!
Growing up, I often watched my grandmothers bake days before a holiday (sweet potato pies, pound cakes, German chocolate cakes, etc.) just to be ready for the family meal on a great festive day like Easter, Thanksgiving, or Christmas. While I love to bake (I get it from my grandmothers), I didn’t want to sacrifice soooo much time in the kitchen. As a busy working mom, I have tons of other things to do and I’m pretty sure you do too.
My mission: Helping everyday people to make different and delicious desserts with a homemade taste and give people their time back while baking like a boss with dessert makeovers.
I love to travel, spend time with family, music (concerts) and most importantly GOD!
