Easy Cinnamon Buttercream Frosting Recipe

So you baked a beautiful cake or cupcakes, and you want your frosting to stand out? Well, you can make your regular vanilla buttercream frosting. But this is a special occasion; if you want something different, why not opt for a creamy, easy cinnamon buttercream frosting recipe? And if you are wondering what ingredients to use and how to make it. Well, I have you covered.

But before I show you how to make this delicious frosting, let’s discuss when you would use this frosting. This frosting will pair well with a gingerbread cake or cupcake, a sweet potato cake or cupcakes, Carrot cake cupcakes, or even a classic vanilla cake or cupcakes. Now, remember the frosting will have brown specks of cinnamon in it, making it look fancy.

Let’s make this frosting together

Now, there are many recipes on the internet on how to make cinnamon buttercream frosting; however, the recipe is only enough to cover a few cupcakes. I will show you how to make a large batch of this frosting so you can use it to cover at least 24 cupcakes or a 2-layer cake.

You will use this frosting in a cool setting; if it’s super hot, just swap the butter for a high-ratio shortening. Other than that, you will be able to use this frosting just as any other frosting.

You will want to start making this frosting in a large bowl with room-temperature butter. The room temperature butter is very important. With your hand mixer or stand mixer, mix the butter by itself for 3-5 minutes. You want a whipped consistency for this butter base.

Once you have whipped the butter, go ahead and add the vanilla extract and mix. Next, add the powdered sugar a little at a time. I add 1 cup at a time and may not add all the sugar because I do not like super-sweet frosting.

Once all the sugar has been added to the butter, now you will add the cinnamon. Cinnamon is a delight; to me, you can never add too much. But, just in case, make sure you add 1 teaspoon at a time. Mix for about 10 seconds, then slowly add to the frosting evaporated milk. Mix again for about 10 seconds.

Ta dah, you should be able to pipe your frosting onto your cake or cupcakes. If the frosting becomes too hard, toss it in the microwave for 10 seconds at a time.

Timesaver Tip:

Suppose you don’t have time to make this recipe but still want cinnamon icing. This recipe won’t make as much as the original cinnamon recipe, but it will save you time.
