2 pink frosting flavors you can make at home

During this time of year, I enjoy making valentine’s day treats for family and friends. But this year, I wanted to focus on making something just for you. Something that will be helpful, quick, and easy to make. Here are 2 pink frosting flavors you can make at home.

Best of all, y’all, you only need a few ingredients, and they taste fabulous.

For either recipe, you will need one package of cream cheese and 1 vanilla tub of icing.

You will also need lemon extract or maraschino cherry juice.

Delicious Pink Frosting Flavors

Now, we will start by making the frosting base.

In a large bowl, mix your softened cream cheese and your canned frosting. I just chose the white vanilla frosting, but you can choose buttercream. Either one will work. Why did I use cream cheese? Well, because I do not like super sweet icing, and adding the cream cheese takes the sweetness away a little bit.

You will mix the combination in the large bowl for about 10 – 20 seconds.

Now this recipe will cover a 2-layer cake or cover 24 cupcakes, give or take. So, it’s more than enough for your recipes.

Option 1: Cherry flavor

To your cream cheese and white frosting, you will add 1 tablespoon of maraschino cherry juice at a time. I would not add more than 2 tablespoons. This will give your dessert a pretty light pink color and a very light cherry flavor.

Option 2: Citrus

You will add a small amount of red food coloring to your cream cheese and white frosting. Note: when adding food coloring, you always want to add a little at a time; you can always add more to get the color you desire. Next, add ½ teaspoon of lemon extract. If you choose this for your pink frosting flavor, just know the icing will be a darker pink but a very good zesty flavor.

You can even add sprinkles……..

Keep in mind that you can’t go wrong with either choice. They are both delicious. If I had to choose, I would pick the pink frosting flavored with lemon zest because I love lemon. So, I may be a little biased. Let me know what you all think.
